Hubby had another conference to attend in October, and I was delighted with this one.  After listening to Veggie Tales’ The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything for years, I was finally going to see “Boston in the fall!”

Hubby and I arrived late afternoon and were installed in a corner room at the Westin Seaport. I took a picture of the park next to us, looked away and then back again.  I was certain the colors on those trees changed in that instant!

We wanted seafood for dinner and found a Legal Seafood within a few minutes’ walk. Dinner on the boardwalk was amazing! We shared crab cakes, scallops, and shrimp, as well as a house salad.  So yum!

The sunset that evening was gorgeous over the water.  It was cool and breezy as we did our usual 10-minute walk after dinner to lower our blood sugar.

Our meandering walk brought us to Greco—“Truly Greek.”  We were stuffed from our dinner, but they had Greek donuts on the menu.  Hubby insisted.  The pile of six donut holes were steamy hot and drizzled with honey sesame tahini and toasted sesame seeds.  We each enjoyed one and started moving again… to lower our blood sugar.

Unfortunately, there was a Tatte bakery next door.  We oohed and aahed over the options and promised to come back later.

Then we rounded a corner in a shopping center and came face-to-face with Van Leeuwin’s Ice Cream.  They had many tempting options, but the vegan banana bread chocolate fudge swirl got the better of us.  We shared a scoop.

The next day, Hubby made lunch plans for us with a friend from work and her spouse.  Before lunch, we scoped out Beacon Hill, finding Acorn Street (we took pictures without really knowing that it had been voted the prettiest street in America by a magazine).

Then we found the most beautiful Insta-worthy bookstore I’ve ever seen.  Beacon Hill Books & Café is like a three-story dollhouse with a tight spiral staircase for one climber, a puffing toy steam engine, chugging along tracks near the ceiling on the second floor (the children’s section), incredible artwork, tiny tea sets in front of a fireplace, etc.  It’s all eye candy, and it’s all crowds. I managed to grab a couple of shots without customers.

After lunch, Hubby and I joined a guided tour of the Freedom Trail, which is 2.5 miles in a straight line.  We got all the way to pointing out the last two stops, seeing the Bunker Hill monument and the USS Constitution from a distance.

For dinner, we backtracked to Faneuil Hall for a lobster roll from Boston & Maine.  If you follow our lead, be sure to ask for garlic butter on the roll!
