December blew in and caught me by surprise.  I looked at the calendar in November and thought, “It’s not going to be so bad in December!” Then things started getting added to the December calendar, rapidly.

I’m sure I’m not alone.

The house has looked more like chaos than anything else this month, with moments of peace.

Today my kids are busy finishing up their college finals, hubby is at work, and I have the rest of this day to tie up loose ends—the last of the gift cards I need to buy, another 100 gingerbread to make and freeze for Sunday night’s church concert reception, cancelling my ice maker order from Cowboy Maloney’s because I finally realized that my broken door hinge (due to stripped screws) could just be switched to the other side of the machine, and laying out the supplies to make 25 gift bags for a local crisis pregnancy center.

It’s early, so I tidied up the chaos for a few moments to take pictures of the peace.  I hope you enjoy this year’s house Christmas house tour.  (Thanks, Mom!)

In the corner of the dining room, I set up a tree with all the breakables. It showcases a collection of snow babies that my mom has bought me through the years. Didn’t she do a fabulous job on that topper?
My formal dining room has my talented mom’s fingerprints all over it!
The drink station isn’t complete with a little cha-cha-cha (thank you, Aunt Lori!)
There are actually twinkle lights along the reindeer garland, but they’re on a timer, and it isn’t that time of day…. Call me lazy.
I take credit for my Seuss-like topper. This is the fun tree in the breakfast nook.
Izzy is in love with her new leather chair, or maybe she’s in love with the faux-fur rug I’m using to protect the new leather chair.
The living room!
Baking central! It’s about to host Chef Just Ward (chefjustinward.com) this weekend! I’ll take pictures of the macarons for ya.
It wouldn’t be Christmas without ornaments hanging from a chandelier!
