It’s been a few weeks since I posted to the blog.  A LOT has happened since then.  My daughter spent a week in D.C. with 45 other young people from around the nation on an American Youth Corp missions trip, my oldest son asked his girlfriend to marry him on July 4 at the family farm, and I completed my first big painting in a very long time.

T and I had to wait until everyone was inside to set up the proposal spot. Then we had to have a pregnant member of the family complain about the heat in the front room so that we’d have a reason to close all the blinds!

I’ve had moments of inspiration to sit down and write, and then I hear, “Hey, Mom! ‘You ready?” That’s my cue that my daughter is ready to quote 550 verses of I Kings, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes to me, and there go a few hours of my day….  It’s worth it, though!  She is preparing for Bible Quizzing Nationals in St. Charles, Missouri, at the end of this month.

He led her on a trip through his shade garden on the side of the house to the front, where the proposal spot was CLEARLY outlined by a heart made out of daisies, and rose petals led the way to it!!!

I used to look forward to summers, believing that they’d be time for “catching up” with friends and family and for doing projects that I’d been putting off during the school year.  Instead, this summer as flown by with catching up on doctors’, dentists’, and eye appointments for my college students and getting them ready for trips, camps, and new chapters in their lives!

He dropped to his knee way before the spot on our stage. I took the shot through the window of the front room after we opened the blinds. The whole family got to watch the big moment.

Now I’m hoping to catch up on my projects once they start school in August!

T had worked too hard on the decor to get average pictures, so she barreled out of the bushes and made them go through the motions again–for the sake of the good pictures.

In between planning two weddings for Spring 2023, I hope to clean and organize the garage, blog, and paint. I also hope to help my mom revamp her kitchen if she still feels inclined to do so.  Mom?

The prospective groom and bride posed with her sister and mother.

And so the Southern saga continues.  Next time, I’ll tell you about a simply Southern way of shopping for wedding venues in the smaller towns in Mississippi. Delightful!
