Let me start off with, “Thank you, Lord, for such a talented mother!” I pulled out my fall decor this year and limply went about the business of “decorating.” Maybe I’m uninspired because two of my three little birds have flown the nest and, at the time of my weak attempt to feather the nest, I’d had no plans to entertain guests for the next couple of months.

Mom went to lunch with me, hubby, and daughter after church the Sunday before last, and I broached the subject of my lousy looking fall decor. Mom is the Queen of Decorating, and she shuffled through her busy calendar in her mind to offer me a day in which she could help me out of my slump.

We met at The Olive Branch in Clinton, collecting a few little treasures and inspiration. Then we headed to lunch in Ridgeland.

Unfortunately, our favorite Greek restaurant was packed with no parking spaces available, so we were forced to delay lunch with a quick trip to Mostly Martha’s, a florist shop that never fails to deliver the perfect silk flowers, stunning containers, and glorious arrangements.

Then we headed back to Krilakis. We found a parking space, but there was a 30 minute wait. Forced again to shop, we tried out the new gift shop on the corner called Finch. What fun! We found Christmas gifts.

Finally, after a yummy lunch at Krilakis, Mom and I headed to the house. She got right to work and had my house looking ready for fall in no time at all!
