Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you are spending the day with family and friends, enjoying good food and fellowship, reminiscing about past Thanksgivings, and looking forward to future Thanksgivings. We are so blessed!
My heart and my house are full this year though I’m missing some of our regular guests. Most years, I serve around 20, but this year, only 12 of us will gather here.
I ordered the turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, cranberry relish, and pecan cobbler from a local restaurant. I’m adding Aunt Lori’s corn casserole, crawfish and sausage dressing, and chocolate cornucopia-shaped cake. My sis will be bringing homemade rolls, roasted Brussel sprouts, and two pumpkin rolls—one skinny and one fat, as if that matters.
Yes, the menu looks coma inducing, but I promise we eat this way only once a year!
With the weird weather pattern over the past few months—blazing hot summer to frost warnings back to summer heat and then to almost fall—my favorite season seems to be shorter than ever in the deep South this year. I guess I’m also used to marking time by school events, and now that the nest is empty, I’m a little at a loss for knowing the time of the year and even sometimes the time of the day!
Remember, the Christmas season starts tomorrow, so join me in being thankful today for the opportunity to rest before the hustle and bustle. May you find many opportunities to stop and enjoy the wonder of the Christmas season and take today’s thanksgiving along the road with you.
Love this! Sorry that Fall has flown by this year, I hope it’s longer next year.
Sounds yummy!
Happy Thanksgiving Nancy!
We don’t have thanksgiving in Australia, I’m always a little envious at this time of year 💐
