Last week, we left the ice storm in Mississippi and fly to somewhere warmer—Denver, Colorado!

Actually, we flew there but made a beeline to a conference in Keystone, CO, where it was about the same temp as Mississippi for a couple of days. The cold is dryer in Colorado, so it is more pleasurable.

We stopped this time on Loveland Pass at the Continental Divide for a picture.

Hubby’s conference was scheduled for early morning and late afternoon sessions, so we had the brightest parts of the day to play outside.

Hubby and I don’t ski, but we do snow tube! That hour is the highlight of the trip. We race each other down the steep hill of snow and then race the other participants to get on “the magic carpet” and be first in line for another slide down. An hour at Frisco Adventure Park affords only about 5 turns.

Warming up with a cup of hot chocolate before tubing. Temps were in the 20s.

I guess we could reserve more time, but we also enjoy warming up with a good meal.

Last time, we stopped in Frisco; this time, we headed to Breckenridge with the memory of wild game ramen from the Blue Stag Saloon.

We parked in the South Parking Garage and walked through town, our noses lifted to catch a whiff of the delicious aroma that arrested our attention last year.

Blue Stag didn’t disappoint us. We sat at the same table, my back against a warm fire. We ordered the ramen, mostly for Hubby. I tried the gnocchi since the Roast Au Jus sandwich wasn’t on this year’s menu.

It was close to 3 when our feet happened to turn towards the gondolas. When we read the sign that the ride is free until 3 pm, we checked our watches and scurried onto a vacant car. It’s such a simple pleasure to ride over snow covered roads and buildings, peering through the cloudy, scratched acrylic windows!

We weren’t due to come home until Sunday, but another winter storm threatened to cancel flights. We were fortunate to find a flight home a day earlier. The change in plans meant that we had time only for a crepe breakfast before we needed to leave for Denver.

God is so good, y’all. An accident on our route meant a very long detour around the mountain. I kept checking the map for any change. At the very point where we needed to turn left for the detour, the map showed a cleared road to Denver, shaving more than an hour off our drive. What a stress reliever!

After a full day of traveling, we arrived back home in good ole Mississippi at 11:30 p.m.
