It’s been raining for days, and the forecast predicts more rainy days ahead, which is typical for Mississippi in January.  My poor pup is about to lose her mind with all the inactivity after a year of daily walks in the neighborhood.  Some evenings she tucks her long, unwieldy tail between her legs and spins in circles in a random burst of doggy energy!  Then she will drop, pant for a few moments, double tap those front paws, and away our Tasmanian Devil goes again until she tires out.

Well, despite the sogginess and the gloomy atmosphere brought on by the weather, today was one of the happiest days of the year for me.  How is that possible when everything inside and out looks like it’s been coated in a medium shade of gray?

My annual family scrapbook arrived in the mail today!!!  I think I’m about as giddy as I was in high school the day the school yearbooks were distributed.

The 12×12 bound book, published by Blurb, represents a year’s worth of memories, mostly from my camera, but also from a few other members of the family.  It also represents a lot of WORK!  (It’s not too bad as long as I keep up with it through the year and don’t leave it until the last week of the year!)

Scrapbooking has come a long way since I started in the 1990s.  I especially love working with digital templates in Photoshop Elements.  I also love buying a new digital kit or two from Sweet Shoppe Designs, though I have so many kits already that I don’t really need anymore.  Plus, most of my pages don’t have room for embellishments; I’ve got too many photos to include!

The published books look tidy all lined up on the bookshelf next to the overloaded paper scrapbooks that I stopped creating as soon as digital scrapbooking was available.

Joy!  Just so you know, my abundant happiness is helped by playing upbeat Christian music as loudly as my children will allow me.  Today I’m listening to Tauren Wells Radio on Pandora.  Try it out sometime; it will put a pep in your step even if there’s no package on the front porch.

WOW! Such blessings many times over – when you were there at the time, when you went back to select memories, now receiving the book, and for many years to come. Well done, Nancy! I am impressed but not surprised at your years of record keeping.
