Last year, I wrote about getting senior pictures taken of Nate, my first child, and wondering what to do for Eli, the second one.
Nate, my nature-lover, was fairly easy to capture with my camera. I had hired a professional photographer and learned my lesson: rapport is everything in a photo shoot! Nate gave that man “froggy smiles” and hid the light that typically dances in his eyes.
Eli, having taken a photography class and now taking AP Art with photography of his original Lego creations as his medium, has a definite opinion about how he wants to look in his senior photos: He can’t have a fresh haircut; he needs his beard grown out just so; and he needs to do the shoot when he’s got plenty of time. I just follow his instructions, asking periodically, “Is it time?” “How about this weekend?” I’ve created a monster, I know.
We actually found that magical moment this past fall. Yes, I wish that my close-ups were not so soft. I’ve gotten slightly shaky in my old age! However, Eli was agreeable, patient with me, willing to suggest poses, and refrained from giving me any goofy faces. Anyone who knows Eli knows that that is a feat!
Two years ago, I used Staples to print engineering prints of Nate’s pictures for his senior display at church and his graduation party. Did you know that Staples won’t do that for us anymore? They rejected my order. 🙁 Anyway, a little perusing of the marketplace with the help of another mother of a senior revealed the willingness of Micro Printing & Blueprint, a local shop in downtown Jackson, MS! Hurrah!
I uploaded the four pictures that I want blown up yesterday via Dropbox, and I’m picking them up today. How’s that for a great turnaround?
Next on this senior mom to-do list is a display table for our church’s Prominent Night! I need to creatively display a Chess board, bow & arrows, hundreds of Bible Quizzing ribbons, and Legos, lots of Legos!
I hope that your to-do list gets checked off completely today! Have a blessed day!
Great photos! Congratulations!
