It’s been about a month since I posted on the blog. It was about that time when a little furry critter “chose” me and Hubby to be her family. Now I have difficulty typing without little polydactyl paws calmly crunching keyboard keys as she gets between me and the screen in a battle for my undivided attention.

Yes, that’s right, folks. We are not cat people, but we now have a cat. Her name is Charley, which is short for Charlotte. Charley has 25 toes.

She showed up at the Allergy Clinic at lunch time.
I was on my way home from Sam’s with a hot rotisserie chicken in the trunk of my car. Hubby was texting me to swing by his office to pick up extra food and warning me to avoid the front door. At the same time, the clinic nurses were texting me to come to the front door and rescue a kitten from the parking lot!

The only reason I’m able to post now is because Charley is staying with a neighbor while Hubby and I enjoy the 40-degree swing in Chicago for a few days.
Soon after Charley joined the family, my son and daughter-in-law announced their good news—a baby will be added to the family in early December! Hubby and I are (very young) grandparents!

Meanwhile, we’re about to move son #2 into an apartment in Dallas, where he will begin grad school at UT Southwestern. He’s studying to become a licensed prosthetist though he’s been shadowing and working in a clinic for more than a year. He will be more than qualified for the job, and we are sure that God has even bigger plans for his life than he may recognize at this time.
My daughter, our youngest, is finishing up a degree in Human Services at Urshan University in Missouri. She graduates in May and will be moving home to find some shadowing opportunities and to figure out if grad school is her next step or not.
It’s a season of transition!

Chicago is also in a season of transition. We arrived two days ago to 80+ degree temps. Now it is 46. The lows tonight will be in the 30s.

The tulips are out, and I want to cheer the people who planted them. They’re gorgeous! God has such a way with color, and the creative imagination He gave to some humans to use that color is astounding. The tulips make the concrete jungle seem so much friendlier and more enjoyable.

We’ll be home in a few days to experience a warmer spring in Mississippi.
I’m looking forward to the Madison-Ridgeland Academy (MRA) Garden Tour. It’s one of my favorite events of the year.
This year, a dear friend has opened her yard to the tour, and the home of the owners of our local Garden Works will also be on the tour. Their obvious love of creation inspires me to clean up my landscape and dream big!
Yesterday, my oldest son, owner of Mississippi Woodland Nursery, planted a large order of native ferns, irises, and creeping thyme in a neglected corner of the yard. As he finished up, he sent a text, informing me that now I need to mulch.
Hopefully, I will have time between our busy spring travel plans to care for my new plants and act on those springtime dreams!
